McCall's Motorworks Revival has officially kicked off the festivities in Monterey, California. This year, attendees were treated to a buffet of lust-worthy metal both new and old, including one very special treat. CSX2000, the very first Shebly Cobra assembled by Carroll Shelby himself, drove in under its own power and a distinguished cloud of oil smoke. Long live the snake. Aston Martin gave the 2013 Vanquish its North American debut yesterday evening at the McCall Motorworks Revival ahead of this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. With blue paintwork that looks good enough to eat and plenty of carbon fiber trim work inspired by the similarly delicious One-77, the newest version of the Vanquish looks like it will fit comfortably into the company's stable.
The middle of August in Monterey means one thing to car nuts – Pebble Beach. Although there are tons of events around the peninsula, and more new ones being added every year, the main event is still Pebble Beach. The shows and gatherings that lead up to Sunday's Concours have grown into happenings that come close to rivaling Pebble in some ways, but still can't match its grandeur. But even before these top events begin, there is an unofficial start to the proceedings.
