Behold, the first Pratt & Miller C6RS Convertible!

Filed under: Aftermarket, Convertibles, Sports/GTs, Green, Chevrolet

Just days after we became enamored with Jay Leno's E85-powered C6RS Corvette at SEMA this past year, Pratt and Miller announced it would be producing the cars for the public, providing you had a Corvette and $185,000 to do the conversion. Included with each C6RS is carbon fiber bodywork, an adjustable suspension, upgraded brakes, and a 600-horsepower 500ci V8, among many other modifications. Pratt and Miller set availability of the C6RS for April of this year, but the first has already been delivered in the form of a yellow convertible. Who's the lucky customer? None other than Jim Miller, co-owner of Pratt and Miller. We guess if anybody deserves the first one, it's him. Thanks for the tip, Fletcher!

Christmas comes early: Pratt & Miller confirm production of Corvette C6RS

Filed under: Aftermarket, Tuners, Sports/GTs, Supercars, Chevrolet

Time to call in that favor from Santa. Pratt & Miller Engineering will begin taking orders for its Corvette C6RS this December, confirming rumors of a production version after its official debut last week at SEMA. Deliveries of the 600-hp, 600 ft-lbs. monster 'Vette will begin in April next year, as long as you can provide a donor car (C6 coupe, convertible or Z06) and the $185,000 necessary to complete the build.

In addition to the Katech-modified 8.2-liter V8, copious quantities of carbon fiber replace many of the standard components, while 18x11-inch wheels up front and 19x13.6-inch BBS wheels out back cling to the corners of the C6RS, which is a full 1.6-inch wider than a standard Z06.

All the details are available in Pratt & Miller's press release after the jump.

SEMA 2007 VIDEO: Jay Leno's E85-powered C6RS Corvette

Filed under: Aftermarket, SEMA, Coupes, Green, Videos, Chevrolet, GM

Jay Leno is among the world's most famous car enthusiasts, and he seems to appear in a major auto publication every single month. Of course, there is a good reason for all the pub: he has some kick-ass cars. One of his newest white diamonds is the C6RS E85 Corvette, which started life as a stock Z06 and ended up with an 8.2L E85-capable engine and plenty of racing parts. We interviewed Steve Hofmann of Jay's Big Dog Garage, and he had plenty of details concerning the C6RS green machine. Click play on the video above to check it out.

SEMA 2007: Corn-fed Corvette C6RS drops at GM party

Jay Leno showed up at GM's party at The Wynn to show off his unique corn-fed Corvette C6RS, stuffed full of Katech's naturally aspirated 8.2L 600 HP V8. We discussed this car a bit recently and can only add that the devil is truly in the details here. The carbon fiber is apparent everywhere you look, the body kit takes this special C6 one step beyond anything you'd find at a Chevy dealership, and the fender slats remind us of a certain competitor from a recently liberated Big Three member. The press release is repeated after the jump and live shots from the party have been added to the gallery.

Jay Leno's love for fast rides is abundantly documented, and he's not afraid to try different things with them, either. In a demonstration that high performance and greener fuels are not mutually exclusive, he worked with Pratt & Miller, which campaigns Corvette Racing's C6.R GT1-class cars, to create the beast you see here. This is the C6RS, and it takes the whole "live green go yellow" thing to the next level. Based on a Corvette Z06 and styled to pay homage to the C6.R racers, the C6RS is powered by a custom 500 CID aluminum V8 good for 600 horsepower. That, in itself, is nothing special. What is, however, is that said V8 runs on E85 instead of gasoline. Man, everyone would clamor for flex-fuel vehicles if they were consistently this badass. Follow the jump to read all about what went into it.
