Remy Electric Motors, the Pendleton, IN-based automotive supplier, has been selected by Zap, a California-based electric vehicle producer, to supply motors for all of the automaker's cars and trucks sold across the globe. Remy's HVH 250 electric motor – the one Steve Burns, president of Advanced Mechanical Products, Inc. (AMP), once called "the best (electric motor) on the market today" – will find a home between the fenders of every Zap vehicle produced from here on out.

At press conference ahead of the Beijing Motor Show, Steve Schneider, CEO of Zap introduced his company's latest effort, an electric taxi. Like previous Zap products, the taxi is to be produced in China. This one will built by a joint venture between Zap and electric meter manufacturer Holley Group.

Our sleuthing colleagues over at The Truth About Cars have dissected electric car maker Zap's latest 10-Q filing, and they unearthed the following little tidbit: "The decrease of $1.5 million (in revenue) is primarily due to the phase out of our three wheeled Xebra vehicle with reduced selling prices."
