Here there be dragons

McLaren must be doing good business with its McLaren Special Operations (MSO) special edition supercars because it has just released another, and like with the Canada Commission, this one takes its inspiration from a specific country, namely China. It's called the 2018 McLaren 570GT Cabbeen Collection, and was developed in conjunction with a Chinese fashion designer simply referred to as Mr. Cabbeen. We suspect that it received the name "collection" because of the connection to fashion, despite

It's way bigger, but arguably better

The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta changed quite a bit from its immediate predecessor. It gained a heaping helping of style, changed up its suspension, and became a bit more efficient. But the differences between those two generations are minuscule next to those between the 2019 and the original 1980 VW Jetta. And those differences have been highlighted by VW, which produced a video showing off examples of each, and a whole bunch of information and specs on the two cars.

Audi's 2.0 Turbo FSI engines have a faulty coolant pump

Audi has announced a global 1.16 million vehicle recall, which targets vehicles with its 2.0-liter Turbo FSI engines. The recall has to do with concerns that a coolant pump might pose a fire risk due to moisture issues. The pump could also be blocked with debris from the coolant system.

Jaguar is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its elegant luxury sedan, the XJ, with a stylish and supercharged new model called the XJ50. This nod to eight generations of XJ comes in long-wheelbase format and is powered by either a 340-horsepower supercharged V6, or snarling 470-hp supercharged V8. While the V6 model is available with a choice of rear- or all-wheel drive, the more powerful V8 is offered only in rear-wheel drive form.

Meanwhile, confusion persists over subscription versus ownership

From the Beijing Motor Show comes word of pricing for the forthcoming Polestar 1 plug-in hybrid, but there's more confusion on the question of whether the high-end coupe can truly be purchased, as opposed to being obtained solely through a subscription model.

Great packaging let down by a goofy ride

The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas is a strange beast. It's both exactly what the company needs in the US marketplace right now, and it's also a crossover that leaves us a bit cold. Crossovers aren't exactly a genre that engenders a great deal of passion in buyers concerned with practicalities, like fuel economy, interior storage, and safety. But the Atlas is more passionless than most, a strange turn for Volkswagen, a company whose most pedestrian vehicles have had some baked-in European goodness. That

Jeep gets a big SUV again

Jeep has finally revealed its first three-row SUV since the Commander, and the new one is called, as we expected, Grand Commander. And it looks just like we expected from leaked images and patent drawings. It pulls a bit of inspiration from the Jeep Yuntu concept, but it generally looks like a much bigger, stretched-out Compass. We do see a bit of Renegade inspiration in the D-pillar, though.
