Do you know what a transverse link bolt is? Well, if you own either a 2012 or 2013 Nissan Altima, the seemingly inconsequential piece of hardware may concern you. A recall has been issued regarding over 13,000 Altima's built between May 10 and July 26 of 2012.

For a two-week period this year, Nissan apparently incorrectly assembled the air bag control unit in both the 2012 Altima and the 2012 NV work van. That's the news from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which today announced a small recall of the two vehicles – the potential number of vehicles affected is just 54.

The recall bug has struck Nissan, but fortunately it appears the Japanese automaker caught the problem early on. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says on its website that Nissan is recalling 20,000 copies of the 2011 and 2012 Altima built between April 25 and June 10 due to a suspension bolt that may not have been torqued to specification.

Another big recall to report. This time it's Nissan and its bread-and-butter Altima sedan. Apparently, cars with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder have an air filter that can cause some serious problems. It seems that if something hot is sucked into the filter, like ashes from a cigarette, it can catch on fire. Four incidents have already been reported to Nissan.
