BMW has officially launched its new vehicle subscription service, becoming the latest automaker to embrace the more flexible alternative to traditional leasing. It's called Access by BMW, and it'll offer a selection of vehicles in two tiers via a new mobile app or dedicated website.

BMW will recall about 840,000 vehicles from the 2007-2015 model years to replace their Takata airbag inflators.
The EPA challenged the 2016 BMW X5 xDrive 35d to its more rigorous testing for diesel models, and the SUV passed. It should arrive at dealers by late January.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is starting to announce the expanded Takata airbag inflator recalls. FCA has over 5 million vehicles affected worldwide, and BMW has over 420,000 in the US. Honda's expansion includes 350,000 more Civics and Accords.
BMW is working hard to keep up with the high demand for its crossovers. The expansion at the Spartanburg plant should help things by giving a big boost to annual capacity.
