Two separate problems related to inadvertent airbag deployment have prompted Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the NHTSA to recall some 2 million late-model Ram trucks.


FCA US is recalling 1.4 million vehicles in the US to send the owners a software upgrade to prevent potential hacks. The issue stems from the weakness recently discovered in the Uconnect system in a Jeep Cherokee.

These are the best-selling cars and trucks in the United States from June 2015. Trucks were the hottest sellers, led by the redesigned 2015 Ford F-150.


FCA is allegedly pushing back the launch of around a dozen vehicles in the US, including the next-gen Ram 1500 and Jeep Wrangler. Alfa Romeo might see more products come to market even more quickly, though.


BMW, FCA, Ford, Honda, Mitsubishi All Affected

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is starting to announce the expanded Takata airbag inflator recalls. FCA has over 5 million vehicles affected worldwide, and BMW has over 420,000 in the US. Honda's expansion includes 350,000 more Civics and Accords.

The newly unveiled Ram 1500 EcoDiesel HFE model brings the fullsize pickup closer than ever to 30 miles per gallon fuel economy. Thanks to the right mix of aerodynamics-improving measures, the model boosts the mileage of the standard diesel version to 29 mpg highway, 21 mpg city and 24 mpg combined. Its 3.0-liter diesel V6 still makes 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque and routes through the brand's eight-speed automatic gearbox.


The 2015 Ram 1500 Rebel has plenty to offer the outdoorsy type, though we're not so sure its rugged sense of style is an improvement over other Ram models.


Off-Road Model Targets Those Who Like To Play Dirty

Ram is introducing the 1500 Rebel, a 'lifestyle' pickup, at the Detroit Auto Show. It features a lifted suspension, bigger tires and lots of attitude.
