Europeans get a very torquey diesel engine that won't come Stateside.

Look for a turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 under the hood.

There's something really wonderful about performance wagons. Just this past week, we've had a 2018 Volvo V90, 2018 Jaguar XF Sportbrake and a 2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo pass through Fort Autoblog. While these are all wonderful in their own way, Americans still miss out on some really good stuff from Europe, like the new 2019 Audi S6 Avant we see here in camouflaged garb.

It wasn't long ago that cars like the newly revamped S6 were science fiction or supercars. The good life for fast driving has never been better.

The 2016 Audi S6 and S7 share a lot of common bits, including the engine and chassis. But as we found during our test on the roads of southern California, these two machines are actually quite different.

Audi has announced pricing for its new A6, A7 and their various performance and diesel-powered derivatives.

Minutes after spending time in the refreshed 2016 Audi A6 in Germany, we were tossed the keys to its enthusiast-tuned sibling, the Audi S6. In similar manner to its lesser brethren, the S6 has also been updated for the 2016 model year with a new look, a boost in power and additional technology.

The Audi A6 is already a fairly handsome, German luxury sedan, but the whole range is receiving some styling updates in Europe this fall. Audi's US arm would not directly confirm which of these updates will be coming to America, instead just telling us that an updated A6 will be coming next year.

Audi is well underway with testing for all of the refreshed versions of its A6-based sedan. We've already shown you shots of the Euro-spec A6 Allroad (which will wear some of its styling with our US-spec A6 sedan), and now we have some shots of a car that will actually arrive in the United States - the S6.
