Nissan names Makoto Uchida as next CEO

The company also named Ashwani Gupta as its chief operating officer

TOKYO/PARIS (Reuters) - The board of Nissan Motor Co has picked Senior Vice President Makoto Uchida as its next chief executive and Ashwani Gupta as its chief operating officer, two sources said on Tuesday, following a board meeting of the scandal-hit automaker. Directors at Nissan, including those from top shareholder Renault SA , voted unanimously in favor of the two executives, one of the sources said. Both of the sources spoke on condition of anonymity.

W Series could team up with F1 for races in North America next year

Women would be the undercard at U.S., Mexico GPs

The all-female W Series is discussing a move outside Europe, and a potential North American double-header supporting Formula One races in the United States and Mexico, as part of an expanded second season. Former F1 race winner David Coulthard, who heads the advisory board for the series and is a long-time friend of chairman and major shareholder Sean Wadsworth, said talks with Formula One were ongoing.
