Could this be a hardcore, track-ready Z06?

The Chevy Corvette line is pretty well rounded at this point, starting with the plain old Stingray up to the beastly, hardcore ZR1, with the Grand Sport and Z06 filling in the gaps. But it looks like yet another Corvette niche could appear, as evidenced by the above spy shots. They show a Corvette Z06, but with a ZR1 wing and more. And by more, we mostly mean "orange."

Video

An exhaust note all its own

For the second time this week, we have a new batch of spy photos of the upcoming mid-engine Chevy Corvette. Even better, there's video to go along with the pictures. In the short clip, you can hear the deep burble of the Vette's V8, though we don't yet know which small-block variant the car will get.

C8 Corvette is becoming clearer and clearer

Once again, a mid-engine Chevy Corvette prototype has been spotted in the wild, and this one reveals even more new details. They include hints at the front-end design, a look at the steering wheel, and a preview of the brakes.

Some competition came along

After years of watching the mid-engine Chevy Corvette C8 behind proving ground fencing, we finally get a look at the super 'Vette on public roads. These spy shots show the car out testing along with a Porsche 911 Carrera S and two C7 Corvettes. The one behind the 911 appears to be a Z06, and a ZR1 can be spotted in the background of another photo.

First Drive

You knew it would be fast, but this Vette plumbs the extremes

I was shook. I've driven a lot of racetracks in a lot of exotic cars. But lately I haven't been on track as often as I would like. And my most recent foray on a very wet circuit left me feeling unacceptably slow. Cobwebby. So a first drive of the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 at Road Atlanta was bringing on a set of nerves.

Oh, and 100 mph in just 6 seconds

The 2019 Chevy Corvette ZR1 is a car of superlatives. It's faster and more powerful than any other production Corvette ever to roll out of Bowling Green. It's the ultimate iteration of what Chevy's been building for 65 years. Thanks to CorvetteBlogger.com and Corvette Production Manager Harlan Charles, we finally have the official figures: 0-60 mph in 2.85 seconds, 0-100 mph in 6 seconds and the quarter-mile in 10.6 seconds at 134 mph.

No iPhone pics, no far-off zoom-ins from behind a shrub.

The mid-engine Corvette still has a targa-style roof.
