In an executive order, President Obama is increasing the federal fleet to 50 percent plug-ins and EVs by 2025. All of the changes should reduce government greenhouse emissions by 40 percent from 2008 levels.

Mercedes-Benz is calling 2015 its "Year of the SUV." This means, in addition to the debut of the GLE-Class Coupe in Detroit, we'll see the standard GLE-Class (which replaces the M-Class), the new GLC-Class, and the GLS-Class, with some featuring plug-in hybrid variants.
To close out the year, sales of the two most-popular plug-in vehicles in the US kept going in the direction that they had been all year. The Chevy Volt dropped and the Nissan Leaf had another record month.
While 2014 has been a big year for plug-in vehicle sales – the biggest ever, in fact – the overall numbers are still small. In fact, a new study by The Research Capsule says that sale are "geographically inconsistent" and that only five countries will end the year with more than 10,000 EV sales.
