We just recently saw our first spy shots of the next-gen hi-po Ford Mustang slated to replace the Shelby GT500, but now we're getting our first look – and listen – of prototypes captured on video. Mustang6g.com has the video (along with some different spy shots), which show that, if nothing else, SVT knows how to tune an exhaust system. The :50 mark is a good example of this, but fast-forward to around 2:00 where the driver revs the engine and really gets on the throttle hard taking off from a stop.

There's still no definitive evidence that the next-gen SVT Mustang – said to be called GT350 – will be naturally aspirated, but it sounds just as menacing as the current Shelby GT500. While the video posted below exhibits the sort of quality that is to be expected from someone driving while trying to film someone who is attempting to elude being filmed, it's still exciting to see and hear this new Mustang in motion.

      It sounds great, l just hope it not called GT350 that's been done by Shelby already. Cobra or King Cobra is the way to go,its more fitting when Ford use their own names, branding means everything

        You guys just aren't familiar with trucking in MI. There are many relatively soft dirt roads there still, often coming right into town (or suburbs, etc). On top of that (literally), if I'm not mistaken, the weight limits that trucks are allowed are higher than in many other states. Multi-axle combinations are thus pretty common there to support the weight of the trucks on the roads they deal with. On harder roads, they often raise up several of the axles (like in the video). I'd hate to have to pay for a round of tires on one of those though...

      Here my question, Is Ford finally going to put DI on the Coyote engine?, If no, Why? The most recent 302 Laguna Seca edition (black with ghosted stripes and decals) was easily the sexiest car ever built by FOMOCO. I stopped short of calling it the perfect touring car, only because they (FORD), fell short in two areas. IRS and DI. I know that Ford has pretty much mastered handling with the live axle setup. However, the ride over great distances will beat the crap out of you. DI would actually improve fuel economy and power output. Come on Ford don't half-a$$ the job on the 2015.

        Cost/Benefit Sir Duke - the current port injection strategy does fairly well. Ford is able to get near DI performance without the cost and complexity of implementing it As long as they get acceptable power, emissions, and mileage from the port injected setup then its all good. There could be other reasons as well, I don't know if modify your vehicle but port injection is user friendly as big power gains are just bigger injectors or increased fuel pressure away or both (case in point, to make the jump from 460 rwhp to 700 rwhp on my car required only going to 72 lbs/hr injectors for the fuel system) with direct injection big increases require the addition of a supplementary fuel system typically in the form of a piggyback computer driving additional port injectors. This is obviously a non issue for people who wish only to purchase and enjoy the car with the power it has but one of the driving forces behind the Mustang is a huge aftermarket where many Mustang enthusiasts can and do extensively modify their cars and is important enough that Ford considers it integral to the Mustang's success (as seen by the many high profile shops that get access to the car in its development stage so they can have a plethora of aftermarket items ready early on with the introduction of the new model).

          @ Floppy and Doming - forgot about the coking problem with the valves, a good example of trying to control the PCV vapors can be seen on the new LT1 engine, the odd looking valve covers with the three towers cast in was originally thought by some to be a result of the high pressure injection system used for DI on that engine. It turns out that the injectors and stepper pump are pretty compact and don't require the towers but the filtration system for crank case ventilation does in order to minimize the coking which is DI's dirty little secret. Not knowing how they work, I'd hazard a guess that the towers cast into the valve covers trap the oil in suspension and drain into the rocker area of the head and back down to the oil pan (just a guess) in much the same way that those PVC oil catch cans that en vogue right now for a lot of cars.

          That's exactly the problem. With port injection the stem and rear face of the valve get washed with fuel (a pretty damn effective solvent) at high pressure many times a minute. This naturally keeps them clean. With DI, nothing at all is washing off the valves outside of the chamber, and so all the stuff that never has a chance to build up in a regular engine is unimpeded. I've had a couple of friends with DI cars have to go in for valve cleaning, a 335i and a Mazdaspeed3.

        I honestly can't tell... when he blips the throttle around 1:55 it kind of sounds that way, but when he revs off moments later it sounds like a regular cross plane. I dunno.

        Clearly you do not know what a mule is, as this isn't one, it's a PROTOTYPE. I'd expect enthusiasts to know better than the general public and not come across as incompetent and ignorant on such subjects. Mules would be the S-197(2005-2014 model) testing S550(2015-) mechanicals, which we saw nearly a year before these 2015 prototypes showed up in June.
