The hottest factory Ford Mustang ever is coming soon. The Shelby GT500 has had both official teasers and a few sets of spy shots, but today we get a look at the car's interior and a short drive-by video. The big news here is that the 700-plus horsepower V8 will be mated to a manual transmission, good news for those looking for an alternative to the manual transmission in the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.
One of these things is not like the others. And we don't mean that one is a Chevy while the rest are all from Ford. No, what we're looking at here are a bunch of performance cars, with one lone economy car thrown in for good measure.

We just recently saw our first spy shots of the next-gen hi-po Ford Mustang slated to replace the Shelby GT500, but now we're getting our first look – and listen – of prototypes captured on video. Mustang6g.com has the video (along with some different spy shots), which show that, if nothing else, SVT knows how to tune an exhaust system. Details about the next-gen Ford Mustang are scarce, and there's even less information out there about the upcoming replacement for the Shelby GT500. Previously rumored to drop the Shelby name and wear the GT350 moniker, the highest-performance Mustang has just been spotted testing near Ford's SVT operations.
The last 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible was sold on Saturday at a Barrett-Jackson auction in Reno, Nevada, for $500,000. Ford donated the Mustang to be auctioned for charity, and all of the money is going to the Brain Injury Association of America.
The Ford Mustang is a brilliantly affordable source of horsepower, with a base 300-plus-horsepower version available for well under $30,000. Jumping up to about $35,000 will get you a solid 420 horsepower from a high-revving V8, while those with some extra disposable income can get a pair of 600-plus-horsepower monsters. Both the Roush Stage 3 with its Phase 3 package and Ford's factory Shelby GT500 even crest the 650-horsepower mark, with 675 and 662 ponies, respectively.
