12Google Street View car versus The Stig in Mercedes SLS is not a fair fight

Everyone loves the Stig, and it's hard to blame them. Whether it is the British, American, Australian or even Russian versions of Top Gear, there is something undeniably cool about a mystery man who can lap a track as quick as the top racing drivers in the world.

We post a lot of videos on Autoblog, but we aren't sure we've ever posted one quite like this. This is a video of Top Gear's Stig lapping the Dunsfold test track in a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series. But even for the talented video crews at TG, this isn't everyday fare.

16Mercedes AMG Vision Gran Turismo to see life as rebodied SLS?

Most of the cars created exclusively for the Gran Turismo video game franchise never make the jump from cyberspace to the real world. The X1 and new X2014 designed by Red Bull's Adrian Newey could scarcely be piloted in real life, and while PSA talked about making a limited run of the otherworldly GTbyCitroën, that never came to be. But the Mercedes AMG Vision Gran Turismo could get such a chance – just not from Mercedes-Benz itself.

11Mercedes SLS AMG GT Final Edition marks end of AMG's first sports car

This is one of those moments when we hate to see it leave, but we love to see it go. The subject at hand is, of course, the brilliantly brutal Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, the first vehicle developed fully by AMG. Last week we learned that Mercedes will cease to produce the company's flagship sportscar and send it off with a limited-edition model, the SLS AMG GT Final Edition. Mercedes will only produce 350 units, including coupe and roadster variants, and once that run is over, it'll be over for good

172014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series [w/video]

The biggest misconception about the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series is that it's simply a higher-performing version of the SLS GT - a closer look, or better yet, a few hot laps on a high-speed racing circuit, reveals that is anything but the case.

49Mercedes SLS Final Edition will say hello, goodbye in LA

It is an unjust world we live in. There are a number of cars on sale that we wouldn't be upset to see disappear. The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is certainly not one of those cars. With its absurd gull-wing doors and its wonderful, ridiculous, powerful 6.2-liter, AMG V8, it remains one of the most exciting cars on sale today, despite having hit the US market back in 2010.

177Motor Trend holds World's Greatest Drag Race for the third time

As part of Motor Trend's Best Driver's Car competition, the buff book has held its third iteration of the World's Greatest Drag Race. With an airfield and a dozen of the world's finest performance cars at its disposal (oh, and a helicopter), the MT team did what any good group of enthusiasts would do, and tried to figure what car could cover a quarter mile the quickest. World's greatest drag race, indeed.

162013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Roadster

There are two things that the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG hasn't been lacking in its short time in existence: more power and more letters in its name. But for 2013, Mercedes gave its AMG supercar more of both courtesy of the 583-horsepower SLS AMG GT, and while we've already covered the Coupe, Electric Drive and the 2014 Black Series versions this year, I recently got to spend the better part of a week driving the droptop Roadster model.

252014 Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series to start at $275k*, C63 Edition 507 priced from $70k*

The 2014 model year is shaping up to be quite an exciting one for fans of Mercedes-Benz and its AMG cars. Two of the newest additions to the AMG family go on sale over the next couple months, and Mercedes has revealed pricing for the ultimate SLS AMG GT and its most powerful and exclusive C63 AMG variant. The 2014 C63 AMG Edition 507 goes on sale this month with a price starting at $70,000 (*not including $925 for destination) and the 2014 SLS AMG GT Black Series hits dealers in August – i

33Mercedes releases spy shots of its sub-SLS AMG sports car

Mercedes has handed out "spy shots" of its sub-SLS AMG sports car prototype, which tells us that this on-again/off-again product is most definitely on again. Looking smaller than the company's SLS AMG in these first shots of a running prototype, it nevertheless appears to retain the same basic shape as the larger halo car with a long hood and the cabin located far back on the chassis. Despite the similarities in shape, it does not have gullwing doors and appears to have barely enough room for 2+

6Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG spied with minor changes

Despite looking fresh and fancy as ever, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is nearly four years old now. Its design was first shown to the world at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, and judging by these spy photos, it looks like a couple of small changes are in order for Merc's gullwing baby (or not, seeing as how the test car spied this time around happens to the the Roadster). The timing of the update is interesting, seeing as how Mercedes introduced a new GT model that effectively replaced the standard

AddWatch The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive Set An EV Record At Nurburgring

Mercedes-Benz is the proud owner of a new Nürburgring record.

45Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive [w/video]

Reading the stats for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive is like looking at the Prada storefront on Rodeo Drive – it is an extravagance tinged with Electrobeam gaudiness that's so far from normal it makes the average viewer declare, "Interesting, but..." before trying to find the stargate back to Earth.

77Test drive the Mercedes SLS AMG Electric Drive with Chris Harris

It's hard to not like the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT. The all-aluminum coupe is fitted with a wonderful naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 delivering 583 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. Not only does the burly combustion engine launch the two-seater to 60 miles per hour in less than four seconds, but it does so with one of the world's greatest exhaust soundtracks as it roars, burbles and cackles down the road.

16Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series fears for its tires with Chris Harris at the wheel

By now, you should know it takes quite a machine to get Chris Harris excited. The guy spends plenty of time being nonplussed by a bevy of lustworthy hardware. But the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series seems to have done the impossible by getting under his skin. The ultra-exclusive, circuit-bred version of everyone's favorite gullwing features a wider track, substantially less weight, a revised engine and carbon ceramic brakes. With 630 horsepower on hand, the monster has no trouble dispatching

23A closer look at the Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Concept

Mercedes-Benz hosted us in Miami a several weeks ago to get more acquainted with its latest cooperative adventure – a partnership with Cigarette Racing to build an all-electric racing boat. While we posted on the Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Concept after its worldwide introduction at the Miami Boat Show, its automotive-based technology is innovative enough to warrant a closer look.

12Mercedes rules out hybrid supercar, promises SLS successor

The recent Geneva Motor Show was a festival of hypercars, with the presence of not one, but three over-the-top debuts: the Lamborghini Veneno, McLaren P1 and Ferrari LeFerrari. The latter two have hitched their carbon fiber bumpers to the electrification bandwagon by using hybrid-electric powertrains not entirely unlike the propulsion systems we've come to know in cars like the Toyota Prius and Chevrolet Volt. Does that mean the flow of electrons up the four-wheeled food chain will eventually co
