Mercedes AMG GT goes undercover in Zubaz camo

Apparently, Mercedes-Benz got around to celebrating Saint Patrick's Day a little late this year because there isn't much else that could explain this eye-catching green and black tiger-striped test car rolling through a very crowded Barcelona street. The vehicle in question is the latest collaboration between the Three-Pointed Star and AMG that is taking the place of the SLS in the near future. An official name for this new model hasn't been disclosed yet, but we've heard it called either the SLC or simply the AMG GT.

The closer distance of the spy photos and less headache-inducing camo from the last time we saw the car gives a much better idea of its shape. You can easily discern the headlights arcing over the fenders and lower air intakes. From the front, it looks a lot like the SLS, but the profile and rear show progress. Mercedes' designers have taken the rounded rump of the earlier car but made it a bit more sleek and stylish.

A release date for the SLC hasn't officially been announced yet, but it should be soon. The 2014 German Grand Prix in July has been raised as one possibility. Power is expected to come from AMG's new 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 pumping out around 450 horsepower. Given its chartreuse color scheme, the promotion of Mercedes new sports coupe has seemingly begun.
