The 2016 Ram 3500 Heavy Duty pickup is now available with up to 900 lb-ft of torque from its Cummins diesel engine. The more powerful engine pushes the tow rating to 31,210 pounds.

Australia and New Zealand will get to experience some of America's big pickups starting in October when exports of the Ram 2500 and 3500 from the US will begin there. The local importer will convert them to right-hand drive before they go on sale.

No one can accuse Ram of backing away from the full-size truck arms race. Chrysler has officially dropped the payload details on its 2013 Ram Heavy Duty, and the 3500 now packs a maximum trailer weight of 30,000 pounds. Chew on that number for a moment. Ram is going for broke with its 2012 truck range, increasing power in both the 5.7-liter Hemi and 6.7 Cummins diesel. The gas V8 gets a bump to 383 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. The 6.7-liter Cummins diesel inline six now pushes 350 horses backed by 800 lb.-ft. of torque.

Our friends at PickupTrucks.com have just completed their "HD Hurt Locker" comparison test, in which the GMC Sierra 3500HD, Ford F-350 and Ram 3500 were put through quite a series of tests. General Motors has informed its dealers that production of some of its 2008 full-size trucks and SUVs has been halted due to the ongoing American Axle strike. The affected vehicles include the GMC Yukon, Denali, Sierra heavy-duty regular and extended cab, its commercial-duty pickup and variants of Chevrolet trucks and Tahoes. Well, not every Autoblogger grew up watching Colt Seavers thrashing on a beautiful GMC, so the task of gathering up shots of the latest heavy-duty light trucks fell upon yours truly.

GM has stated that it will be rolling out the full lineup of Silverados and Sierras early next year, and judging by this spy shot of what looks to be a production-intent Sierra 2500HD, fans of heavy hauling indeed will not have to wait long.
