Aston Martin's electric Lagonda lineup to open with a crossover

SUV would beat the sedan to market by two years

At the time of the Geneva Motor Show, Aston Martin announced it would be re-awakening the storied Lagonda brand to manufacture zero-emission luxury cars. The timeline for these was cast to 2023 at first, but now information has come to light that Lagonda would start selling cars two years earlier, with — you guessed it — an SUV.

Cadillac's Johan de Nysschen clarifies a few points on the brand's future

Brand has more challenges than millennials' disinterest in driving

Last week, Motor Trend ran coverage on a journo roundtable with Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen. During the roundtable, de Nysschen cited a few reasons for the decline in sedan sales, including gas prices, "young consumers" — read, millennials — less interested in driving dynamics than lifestyle accessories, and the state of U.S. infrastructure. Jalopnik homed in on the last two reasons, and those became the story, including here in our post on the roundtable. So de Nysschen cal

Then we'll see the production version late in the year in L.A.

According to Autocar, we'll finally see a concept with production intent at the Beijing Motor Show next month, the luxury SUV slated for market release next year. Audi takes V2I Traffic Light Information system to Washington, D.C.

Counts down to a green light, but in time will do much more than that

When a driver in a TLI-equipped Audi stops at a red light, the vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) technology pulls stoplight data from Traffic Technology Services servers to let the driver know when the light will turn green. A countdown timer appears in the dash cluster, and in the heads-up display if the vehicle has one. More than 600 D.C. intersections work with T

Nissan finally approves 370Z successor — or does it?

A closer look at the two latest Z-car rumors

Autocar cites "senior officials from Nissan" for confirmation that a next-generation Z-car is on the way. The UK mag says the two-door has the codename Z35, will get coupe and convertible versions, and will arrive in time for the 240Z's 50th anniversary in 2019, in concept form at very least. Problem is, after reading through everything, we can't tell if this is merely another mutation of the same body of rumors that has been treading water for at least three years now.

Audi A8 last to run with the W12 engine

Oddball engine will retain one exclusive use case

After 17 years on the market, Audi has sounded the death knell on the A8 W12. Audi R&D honcho Peter Mertens — the same exec who suggested the end of the R8 — told Car and Driver at the Geneva Motor Show that the new 2019 A8 "is going to be the last installation" of the 6.0-liter 12-cylinder. That won't affect our market since the Audi retired the W12 here after 2017, and the engine won't reappear in the 2019 model. Our top end will be the A8 60 with a 4.0-liter, twin-tur
