At Witz' End: Turning over a new (Nissan) LEAF

Had lunch the other day with Nissan North America Product Planning Vice President Larry Dominique. He is the point man for communicating Nissan's green-vehicle vision, beginning with its soon-to-come LEAF battery electric car. A few minutes earlier, he had presented exactly that to a large roomful of automaker and supplier representatives, industry analysts, consultants and media.

Some car dealerships have a lousy reputation in the honesty and integrity department, and often the rep is well earned. It's unfortunate for the honest dealers out there, but every time a slimy story surfaces, it casts a bad light on the entire business of selling cars. With Cash for Clunkers adding over 300,000 sales in just a few weeks, some issues were bound to occur, and it appears that consumer advocates have turned on the black lights at the roach hotel.

Volkswagen board approves merger with Porsche

Hunting for big game can be a tricky business. The saga of Volkswagen and Porsche appears as though it may soon draw to a close with the hunter being swallowed by its prey. At a special meeting of the Volkswagen supervisory board on Thursday, an agreement was approved that will ultimately lead to assimilation for Porsche.
