Mercedes equips the GLA250 compact crossover with a new infotainment system and realigned its option packages for 2016.

Episode #403 of the Autoblog Podcast is here, and this week, Dan Roth, Michael Harley, and Ronnie Fung of Autoblog Canada talk about the $5 billion investment Ford is making in Lincoln, the McLaren 650S, and the best apps for drivers. We start with what's in the garage and finish up with some of your questions, and for those of you who hung with us live on our UStream channel, thanks for taking the time. Check out the rundown below with times for topics, and you can follow along down below with
Mercedes-Benz has kindly let loose the price of the US-spec 2015 GLA-Class, telling Autoblog that the base 208-horsepower GLA250 in two-wheel drive form will go for $31,300 *not including a destination charge of $925. That makes for $32,225 in total to get one off the lot, a price predicted as early as last year and in our recent First Drive. The other two available models can push power to all four wheels, and after the destination fee is applied the GLA240 4Matic (pictured) will be $34,225 whi
Crossovers are hugely popular at the moment. It didn't take long for automakers to realize that buyers would pay extra for premium versions of the little 'utes, and Mercedes-Benz recently jumped into the market in Europe with the GLA-Class (that'll be heading Stateside shortly). The Mercedes specialist tuners at Brabus are now welcoming it into the lineup with a whole array of upgrades.
There is always something a little grotesque when traditionally animated characters are brought into the real world. For example, something about seeing Mickey walk around Disney World just doesn't look quite right, and Nintendo is proving the rule with its latest cross promotion involving Mario and the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class.
Mercedes-Benz has been profiting mightily from compact cars recently. Its Kecskemét, Hungary, factory added a third shift to keep up with demand, and company's US arm called the CLA-Class, its "best launch in 20 years." However, Daimler boss Dieter Zetsche says the Mercedes brand won't be getting any smaller, subcompact models; they will be reserved for the Smart brand.
Nissan and Daimler have been partnering ever closer for years, and now an unnamed source has told Reuters that the automakers have agreed to a 50-50 joint venture in Mexico that would build Infiniti and Mercedes-Benz models. Given that the rumors about just such a deal go back nearly six months and similar rumblings are years old, this arrangement has been a long time coming.
Mercedes-Benz has finally rolled out the production version of its GLA45 AMG, and, well... it looks pretty much exactly the same as the concept version we saw in Los Angeles. While that's not necessarily a bad thing, we'd definitely opt for the more sedate silver version (below) that we've seen in the automaker's own images as opposed to the kitted-out model (above) that we think is called the Edition 1 that's sitting on the show floor at the Detroit Auto Show.
Thanks to a decade of European crossovers with torrid performance, downsized engines with outsized performance and a mushrooming compact SUV segment, it's no longer the marvel it should be when we receive the specs on the 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG. Well, almost not a marvel, because they've really put a point on this one: underhood is a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 355 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque that will run the all-wheel-drive baby AMG from 0-to-60 miles pe
Just like it did when introducing the CLA-Class, Mercedes-Benz will launch the closely related GLA-Class crossover with a limited run of Edition 1 models. Available for customers to order starting later next month and running for a year, the GLA-Class Edition 1 brings exclusive styling and luxury to this all-new subcompact crossover.
Brazil is the place to be, apparently. Toyota has been investing in the South American country, as has BMW, which announced a $261 million investment in October 2012. The high-end immigration is only set to continue, as Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar-Land Rover have both announced plans to set up manufacturing operations there.
The Mercedes-Benz stand here in Frankfurt was indeed buzzing following the debut of the swoopy S-Class Coupe Concept, but another big debut from the German automaker came in the form of this, the 2015 GLA-Class compact crossover. As its nomenclature would suggest, the GLA is essentially a high-riding version of the A-Class (or CLA-Class) compact, and thus, a lot of the architecture and powertrain offerings are carried over.
Mercedes-Benz is preparing a major product offensive to counteract lagging sales in the Chinese market, aiming 20 new or updated models at the People's Republic in the next two years, according to a report by Reuters. The plan is part of MB's so-called 2020 Initiative, which will see the Stuttgart-based manufacturer dump 2 billion Euros ($2.67 billion) into its Chinese market vehicles in a bid to boost sales to 300,000 units by 2015.
Last week's reveal of the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class wasn't a huge shock. We knew the crossover, which shares its platform with the CLA sedan, was coming, and we had suspicions it'd show up online before its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. We also knew, because we're talking about Mercedes, that there'd eventually be a hot AMG variant. Much like your friend that enjoys a bit too much Red Bull, Mercedes feels the need to take all of its vehicles up to 11, offering AMG variants of virtual
Forget spy shots, design sketches and teaser videos, here is the 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class. As part of the rapid expansion of its small car offerings, Mercedes-Benz has pulled the cover off this new compact crossover that we'll be seeing up close and personal at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Sharing a platform with the new A-Class and CLA-Class, the GLA will be the fifth SUV/crossover in the Mercedes lineup when it goes on sale in the US in the fall of next year.
Between the GLA Concept and recent spy shots, the cat was pretty much out of the bag as to what the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class would look like. Still, that isn't stopping Mercedes from keeping the excitement up for its new small crossover until the official unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Mercedes-Benz will be expanding its crossover range with the addition of the new GLA-Class, a prototype of which we recently spied inside and out. Now, Auto Express reports that the small CUV will go on sale in early 2014 following its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.
