Avalon attracting younger buyers

That's the headline from Wards Auto World. We bet you had the same reaction to it that we did. Are young kids really enjoying the bland Avalon? Once we read further, younger means "early 50's compared with the average age of 62." Oh, we see. The new vehicle has brought the average age down to 59, right about were we'd expect it be. We'll be adding one (with the touring suspension) to the Autoblog Garage soon so we can

ZAP delivers first Americanized Smart

Two Las Vegas residents were the first private consumers to take receipt of a ZAP Americanized Smart Car at a dealer in Reno, Nevada. Smart has delayed their entrance into the U.S. market for a few years until the next generation Smart forfour is available. Though DaimlerChrysler has not made its entry to the U.S. offical, the next forfour is designed to pass all U.S. safety and emissions regulati

Truth is, you can't race it

The BMW M3 CS is a racecar for the street. Just for the street. As Truth About Cars exposes, the little black box in the car records the time, date and shift points so you can't say, "I swear I never raced it on a track." If you're caught racing, the warranty is void. So you have the Competition Sport, that is most at home on track, destined to never truly be there. That is unless you really don't care about BMW backing you. Sounds like a hell of a ride, but a monster as a daily driver.<

Koenigsegg CCR

We've certainly thrown this name around enough the past couple of months. It currently holds the world's record for fastest production car (soon to be beat by Bugatti) at 241.0 mph but many don't even know how to pronounce it. AutoWeek spends some time in the $600,000, 0-62 in 3.2 seconds super car and introduces us to Christian von Koenigsegg, who we can thank for the name that rolls off the tongue. At 241 mph, no one can hear you scream it anyway.

Tomb Raider Commander

One bitten, twice shy. Sometimes. Jeep continues the Tomb Raider tie-ins at this week's 2005 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Luckily the Commander will only be plugging the new Legend video game, not a bad movie (but if anyone dared to play the last Tomb Raider game, you'd wish it was as short as the movies). The Jeep Commander will be the only public place to view Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend

Extreme Toyota plans

Peter DeLorenzo at AutoExtremist.com lays his "Toyota" plan out on the line and we can't disagree with him. No company gets to be a big and lucrative without one hell of a plan. To thier credit, everything Toyota has put into place over the last 5 years fell together like a Lego Statue of Liberty. Toyota's 2005 plan will be interesting when the new Texas truck plant starts pumping out the bigger, more powerful and heavier Tundra. Toyota will have the U.S. consumer on-line with their hybri
