Shortly before its official premiere, the first official-looking photos of the 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport have leaked online, thanks to Italian site Autoblog.it (no relation!). The new midsize crossover effectively replaces the LR2/Freelander, and will most notably be offered with seven-passenger seating.

Right now, all we have are the photos in the attached gallery, showing what sort of looks like a puffed-up Evoque. Interestingly, the new Disco ditches the typical "LAND ROVER" badging from its nose and rump, in favor of the prominent "DISCOVERY" lettering. That said, we like what we see, with clean lines and an overall style that's more in line with the rest of the brand's newer offerings.

We'll have the full details in the not-too-distant future. Stay tuned.

      It looks like an un-squashed Evoque. It's a fine replacement for the Freelander, but I'm hoping the Disco replacement brings a bit more in the testosterone department.

      Edit: I feel like this will take sales from the Evoque. It looks just as good or better, and will be cheaper, and most of the neighbors won't know the difference.

        @Hernan

        But you will know the difference, as the cabin leaves much to be desired compared to the Evoque.

      Soccer mom design. We will forever miss the original Discovery that reminded us that we could be on safari driving to the grocery store.

      When will this large, medium, small trend end?
       I can understand family resemblance but wow...

      Everyone's everything looks the same!

        Agreed, but I think the family resemblance is here to stay. Brand protects sales, especially when people's interests in vehicles are waning.

      Not the best set of leaked photos I've seen this week...

      Seems interesting that now all LRs are too small except the top of the line.  If you want enough room for 5 people comfortably with bags, you need to buy 150k model.  No thanks.  I'm going to keep my 08 HSE as long as I can.

        Where exactly do you get your information?  You know the Disco is a three row, yes?

      I mean, it's okay... Better than the Evoque, but I just wish it were more... boxy. The headlights look goofy.

      This thing screams Ford Edge, and Ford Explorer.........Is it's engine turned sideways like the Ford Taurus?

      May the original Land Rover Discovery forever rest in peace.......so sad-

      Why does that Ford Explorer have a Land Rover badge?

        @Rollk

        Because people will buy it for that reason alone.

      I really like this one. Has a chunky, sporty and classy look to it

      It's good looking and it'll probably do really well even if it does look like a fancy Ford Edge.
