During our first drive of the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class, the all-new SUV's product manager was asked to identify competitors that might have been benchmarked in its development. The look on his face was about the same as if someone had asked him to recite King Lear in Klingon. As far as Andreas Hoeppel was concerned, the G 550 and AMG G 63 doesn't actually have a rival, or at least something the engineers and designers thought to compare it against. The G-Class is a G-Class, who cares what the

Britain's biggest carmaker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is replacing its director for manufacturing as it prepares its plants for an electrified future, the firm said on Thursday.
This is a classic-car experience. Short dash. Slow steering. Pencil-thin pillars and more flat glass than the UN building. But it all feels fresh, like it just rolled off the assembly line. ECD even left in a few authentic squeaks and rattles.
The new Land Rover Defender should take a bow in concept form later this year, celebrating the company's 70th anniversary. The production version is expected to debut and go into production next year. Among the short- and long-wheelbase versions predicted from spy shots, and the several body styles expected to sit atop them, Autocar reports that a single-cab pickup will join the Defender lineup about a year after launch. The point to stress is that Autocar believes there will "most likely" only
Britain's biggest carmaker Jaguar Land Rover will cut around 1,000 jobs and production at two of its English factories due to a fall in sales caused by uncertainty around Brexit and confusion over diesel policy, a source told Reuters.
So, there's this thing called the 2018 Land Rover Range Rover. But really, that's just what it's called in the realm of automotive websites that need a proper Year, Make and Model to make the 1's and 0's make sense of it. If you know someone who refers to it as a "Land Rover Range Rover," let us know, we'll send them a scone. Really, what we're talking about is the 2018 Range Rover, the literal range-topping model and an ancestor to the SUV that started the whole luxury off-roader craze in the f
About halfway through, right as the water touched the top of the wheels, someone made a joke about electrocuting the fish in the Duke of Marlborough's lake with our 2019 Range Rover 400e plug-in hybrid. Despite the 400e's 35.4-inch wading depth — the same as every other Range Rover model — the thought of driving a hybrid SUV through a lake was disconcerting. In the end, the fish were fine. We can't say the same for some of the Duke's pheasants.
It's been 70 long years since the original Land Rover was introduced at the 1948 Amsterdam Motor Show. The story goes that the boxy shape was drawn in the sand of Red Wharf Bay by Rover's engineering director Maurice Wilks. Now, that figure has been stomped on the snow of the French Alps, as an artist specializing on snow art has created a 820-foot Defender shape at La Plagne.
Back in February, editor Reese Counts expressed his beef with the rotary shifter in the long-term Jaguar F-Pace. In short, the shifter wouldn't rotate into either drive or reverse. Now, I've personally never experienced such an issue with that shifter design since it was unveiled in the original (and awesome) Jaguar XF. Yet, that early post highlights the other problem with the rotary shifter in the F-Pace as well as the XE and current XF. It is placed at the center of a large plastic trim piece
Land Rover is continuing testing of its updated Range Rover Evoque compact luxury crossover, and each time we see it, it has a bit less camouflage. The example shown above has the least yet, amounting mostly just to vinyl wrappings. This allows us to see most of the body without hindrance.
It should come as no surprise that the folks back in England have been working on a hot new version of the Jaguar F-Pace. Today, just ahead of the 2018 New York International Auto Show, the British automaker confirmed that the Jaguar F-Pace SVR will debut this week. The new Jaguar I-Pace and Range Rover SV Coupe will make their North American debuts alongside the F-Pace
It seems that the weather has once again improved enough that people are headed out to the Nürburgring for fun and for testing. This is according to a new compilation video of cars racing around the track from YouTube channel EMS Nordschleife TV. Though most of the cars featured are normal road cars, there are a few prototypes that slip in, including a Land Rover Range Rover Velar that sounds extra beefy.
The new record for the Tianmen Road now stands at 9 minutes, 51 seconds.
Range Rover unveils the SV Coupe, a two-door, hand-built version of the carmaker's flagship with bags of luxury and a $295,000 price tag.
"We seem to have bought some cars that aren't Jaguars or Land Rovers," someone seemingly said. "Maybe we should sell them."
