Back in March, we told you that Chevrolet was actually going to build the Whitesnake-level-awesome COPO Camaro after the drag-ready Camaro was showed off at SEMA as a concept.

The first four COPO Camaros have filed out of the COPO Assembly Facility. COPO numbers 3, 5, 7 and 9 were rolled onto the transport truck, and car number seven was caught on video, highlighted by the roar of its monstrous engine. Throw in a massive cowl induction hood and Hoosier slicks, and the mullet-inducing awesomeness of the COPO is hard to beat.

At the drag strip, the COPO will go against the supercharged Ford Mustang Cobra Jet and the Mopar Challenger Drag Pak, complete with a 512-cubic-inch V10. The COPO will take them on with a choice of engines that include a naturally aspirated 427 and two supercharged 327 options (one with a 2.9-liter supercharger, the other offering a 4.0-liter screw).

Click play on the video below to listen to the glorious engine note and try to figure out which mill is powerplant is under the hood.

      It's just too bad you can't get a 572 marine big block on a COPO camaro. OR for that matter on a street camaro. Or any big block... 427 in a small block? Eh.

        Have you ever noticed how tall the tire is on a funny car or top fuel dragster? Same concept here - you want lots of tire not lots of rim for drag racing so the car can "squat" more for a better launch.

        You are correct, observant one. 15 x 3 1/2 is typical for a nice narrow front rim for a drag race. And of course, you're encyclopedic mind must also be aware of the rear rims being 10" wide, "bigger" than those on a base Yaris.

      I heart big meats on muscle cars... can't get into the huge rims and rubberband tires, look out of place on raw muscle cars.

      Great news! Dodge Challenger Drag Pak fans have been waiting for the opportunity to blow the doors of these COPO cars at race tracks across America. Let the slaughter begin....

        @Bill Burke
        You're a funny guy. Do you think Chevy would allow the COPO to be "slaughtered" by the Drag Pak? I bet it would be a close race with driver talent being the only meaningful deciding factor after choice of engine spec (for the Camaro, only 1 badass engine for the Chally).

          It will however, be destroyed by the Shelby Prudhomme.

          Of course I'm just being silly. Chevy would never enter the battle without adequate iron. I believe Dodge has an advantage in the short term by having a two year head start on developing their package. I also believe that Chrysler products have always been able to find a way to beat the Fords and GM product in stock classes regularly with excellent power plants and a willingness of management to be agressive. If Chevy gets close, Dodge just breaks out the superchargers like Ford and Chevy are already doing. I saw a V-10 Challenger and it ran like a rocket on wheels and I think it will take Chevy awhile to approach this level of performance. Seriously Dodge guys like myself simply love beating Chevys, but it's never easy, won't be now and that's the fun.

      I'd like to see a 3 way drag race between the COPO, Cobra Jet, and Drag Pak. Highest engine spec, no limitations, just out of the box fun.

      This Camaro looks even more like a Hot Wheels toy car with huge tires and slits for windows.
