Swedish biofuel sales grow 270% in 2006

The Swedish oil company Statoil is currently selling E85 ethanol at 170 of their gas stations throughout Sweden, a number which should increase to 260 by the end of 2007. Last year they sold 5.2 million gallons of E85, an increase of 270 percent compared to 2005. During the same time 36,711 flex-fuel cars were sold in Sweden, a jump of 156 percent from the previous year and 13.5 percent of all new car registrations. Honda's adding to the Super Bowl spot cacaphony this year, joining Toyota, GM, and Ford. Almost as important as the football, the commercials are often more entertaining than the game itself, and it's not unheard of for non-sports folks to actually tune in for the commercials. India mixing hydrogen and compressed natural gas

India's major automakers, Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, Mahindra & Mahindra, Ashok Leyland and Eicher Motors, have put aside their rivalry and come together in a project to create an optimal mix of hydrogen and compressed natural gas (CNG). If successful, the fuel mix - referred to as Hithane - will reduce emissions, improve fuel efficiency and work in existing vehicles.
