A wrong-way driver died Sunday when he slammed into a fuel tanker truck on I-75 in Dayton, Ohio, triggering a massive explosion and fireball that was captured on video.

Dayton news outlets report the driver was traveling the wrong way on the interstate around 4:45 p.m. Sunday when the crash occurred. This video from the Ohio Department of Transportation shows the driver's car speeding against traffic, along with the moment of impact and the immediate aftermath of the crash:

The video then continues here, with the fireball and explosion:

The resulting plume of black smoke could be seen for miles.

The driver killed in the crash was identified as 30-year-old Andrew Brunsman of Centerville, Ohio. Remarkably, the driver of the tanker truck was able to flee the wreck and reportedly suffered minor injuries.

The accident closed all lanes of the interstate for hours, and the heat of the fire damaged the roadway and is requiring repairs this week.
