One of the best things about most animated TV shows is that, with a little creativity, you can make the characters say pretty much anything you want. Or, if you're Ford, you can license the characters from Captain Planet and the Planeteers and make them promote your all-electric vehicle. See for yourself:

Captain Planet, of course, was a show broadcast in the early 1990s that carried a none-too-subtle environmental message. Ford revealed the new ad on Twitter today, and we have to admit that we don't have all the Captain Planet episodes memorized, so we're not sure what, exactly, was happening in the original clip (other than the Planeteers are uniting to summon Captain Planet with their five magic rings) that is now used to highlight the Focus Electric. Perhaps someone out there is more of a fan than we are and recognizes the images. If you do, please let us know in the Comments.
As for the content of the ad itself, the immediate response from Twitter users was, in the main, negative. Do you like it more than this Focus EV ad?
