With fuel prices on the rise and drivers growing increasingly concerned over CO2 emissions, more and more car buyers are opting for hybrid vehicles. The growing segment of gas-electric cars range from fuel-misers like the Toyota Prius to performance-oriented rides like the Infiniti M35h and everything in between. Selecting the perfect hybrid can be a daunting task but, thankfully, there are lists of the best gas-electrics that your hard-earned money can buy.

CNET's Rory Reid – you know, that same guy that posted an article titled "Ten reasons electric cars still suck: We unplug the EV hype" – has strung together a list of the UK's seven best hybrid cars and it's dominated by Toyota, Lexus and Honda vehicles. Reid rates the gas-electrics on a scale of one to five, with five being the best, and only awarded top marks to one vehicle; the Toyota Prius. The rest of the hybrids on the the list include: Toyota Auris 4 out of 5; Honda Insight SE 4/5; Lexus GS 450h 3/5; Honda Civic ES hybrid 2/5; Honda CR-Z 3/5; Lexus RX 450h 3/5. All of the models listed, aside from the Auris, are available here in the States and each one stands out, for various reasons, in the increasingly crowded hybrid vehicle segment.
