Recall Covers Equivalent Populations Of Nine US States And District Of Columbia Combined

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.

428,211 of these vehicles are located in the United States, 57,706 are in Canada, and 20,956 are in other markets.

General Motors has issued an immediate stop-sale order on 2013 and 2014 Chevrolet Cruze sedans due to concerns over an issue with the popular compact's airbags. The stop-sale was issued in a notice sent to dealers which has been obtained by Automotive News.

To say the refresh performed on the 2015 Chevy Cruze is mild would be an understatement. Besides a new fascia that more closely follows Chevy's corporate styling theme as seen on the Malibu and Impala, there is very little to visually set the new Cruze apart from the old. Whether the updated look is an improvement is up for debate, but we're sure all 2015 Cruze shoppers will be pleased with the increased functionality of the car's in-cabin technology.

The 2014 New York Auto Show is just around the corner, and today, we've learned that Chevrolet will have three major debuts in the Big Apple. According to the automaker, Chevy will be bringing "a new variant of the seventh-generation Corvette" to the show, as well as "an important new addition to our small-vehicle lineup" along with an updated 2015 Cruze.

GM announced it would recall 490,000 late-model pickup trucks and SUVs

General Motors announced two more recalls late Friday, bringing to 4.8 million the number of cars, trucks and SUVs the automaker has called back for repairs in the past month.

UPDATE: According to Jalopnik, this Cruze may be a China-only model with a shorter wheelbase than the model we'll get in the United States. We'll have to wait and see for now.
