Mercedes-Benz may have skipped advertising during last year's Super Bowl, but according to Automotive News, the manufacturer will be back for 2013. The company plans to introduce its new CLA to the public at large during the game, using the opportunity to reach some 111.3 million US viewers.

While speaking with Advertising Age, Mercedes-Benz USA CEO Steve Cannon said the CLA is a "highly stylized four-door coupe" that will bow with "a surprising price." In addition to pulling the wraps off the new model, Cannon said he hopes the advertising campaign will help Mercedes-Benz reach a wider consumer base than it typically accesses.

The automaker typically sees buyers with an average age of around 50 years old for its C-Class, but the Super Bowl should show off the CLA to its target demographic: 30 and 40-year-old buyers. And what exactly will the spot look like? Mercedes-Benz isn't saying, but Automotive News suggests both Kate Upton and Usher may play a part in the spot.

Can we arrest the person that come up with calling a sedan a coupe?

Will 30-40 year olds be able to afford it? I'm curious to see how low the 'surprising price" is.

The same way they can afford BMW's- through the magic of leasing. Why buy when you can rent?

You may not all love it, but the styling is ape *** crazy when you consider it comes from Mercedes.

To be fair- I find MB has been hitting all the right notes styling wise for the current and the last generation. Everything other than their boring S class sedan, have been styled perfectly. You can't say the same about BMW now.

As usual, the car you're impressed with is the concept. The one you're bored to tears with is the production model (in the lower set of pics). Care to wager which one will make the advertisements?

eww, so they stole headlights from an old GM and borrowed some side work from Mazda... the concept was amazing that it is hard to know where that other car came from

Agreed. I like the front bumper on the showcar much more than the production mule.

Clearly the test mule doesn't look nearly as good as the photos above. Not saying it is bad looking, but these design patterns would look better on a larger size car. The stylized photoshop sure does wonders. Secondly- who are they exactly targeting? I thought the C-Class was already targeting this market? http://www.caranddriver.com/news/2014-mercedes-benz-cla-class-spy-photos-news

Not a test mule, as all of them are prototypes, since none of those CLA test cars used another vehicle's exterior for testing. A test mule is a amalgamation of another car's bodyshell with internals of the new car being under it.

I just looked at the production cars pics, while I still like it, that FWD, front overhang looks awkward in some angles.

Very curious to see what Infiniti does with this platform. Will they do a five-door?? Their recent style trends have underwhelmed.

I would buy one if it looks like the concept! I just wish they would put a manual transmission in it as an option.
