We got an in-person look at the new 2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor at a Ford event yesterday, and we have to say that Ford's stock photography does not do this new "Terrain" color justice. Neither do these pictures, really, but Ford wouldn't let us find somewhere more suitable to photograph their updated SVT truck.

Terrain is a sandy beige hue with a flat finish. It's not matte, but this paint certainly isn't reflective by modern standards. In fact, it's quite reminiscent of those wonderful old lacquer finishes from the '30s and '40s. (We can imagine a Ford Model A Business Coupe coming in the same color.) That's not a pejorative, as the SVT Raptor looks great in this decidedly industrial beige tone. Something about the Raptor's outlandish looks just works with the understated color.

We've also netted some more details about the new beadlock-capable wheels. Underneath those 12-bolt cosmetic trim rings are 24 holes, already tapped for the Ford Racing beadlock ring. Owners just have to buy the beadlock kit from their dealer to convert them. The wheels themselves are forged aluminum and officials tell us this convertible system is an industry first which it aims to patent.

Check out all the high-res images of the 2013 SVT Raptor in our gallery.

      I bet the Raptor would look great in a dark green.

        Olive Drab Would look good. As would the chocolate chip camo pattern. Even if it is obsolete, it looks cool.

      Or you can get it in white and drive it like you're supposed to = Beige

      A bright, sunny day is probably the worst way to photograph a light-colored car. Sometimes, excessive amounts of photo editing is needed just to make them visible.

        ...and I still can't understand why Jeep dropped Desert Tan. It was one of their best selling colors. You're right. It looked REAL GOOD.

      I love it! Hell, you could smear dog poo on a Ford F150 SVT Raptor and it will look good! I was one the other day I drove passed one and I was like "Hun, OMG a Raptor" and she was like "WHAT are you talking about" and I followed it up with my monotone "It's just a very cool truck" knowing that she couldn't care less and she responded "Oh that's good".

      Everyone remember the SuperBowl advertisment that only Chevy truck owners survived the end of the world? Well, Ford should come out with the same advertisment, but the Raptor Jumping and tearing up the debris, yet helping every car maker get out from the rumble. That would be awesome!

      Beige...how fitting for a version of the Camry of pickup "trucks"...the F-150. This this is just laughable with it's flimsy frame (when used as Ford showed in their ads), stick on fenders, big, manly tires, and some shocks with silver paint on them. The poster child for the import aisle (Raptor) with it's gimmickly wheels and "urban cowboy" HIDs needs to get some serious attention to fix the styling (the grille says FORO), and make it something worthy of the SVT name.

          The only party he ever goes to is the Green Party. Pity there are never any seats for him to rest his big head.

      Cool truck, but fake beadlocks are goofy. What is the point of these wheels if the owner still has to buy a kit to get real beadlocks?

        @weagle99
        Because Ford can't sell real beadlocks as factory equipment.
