We were excited to see the first spy shots of the Fisker Nina yesterday but now we're wondering if this isn't the Nina at all.

Oh, we're still sure the car in these pictures is the one that Fisker will be unveiling in New York Tuesday night, but take another look at the rear badges on the car. Notice the big blue stickers? Whatever name they are covering up seems like it has too many letters to just spell Nina. The enthusiasts over at Tesla Motors Club have been playing with photo editing software to try and see if they can get some of the letters to jump out, but their best efforts haven't come to anything conclusive.

But we know they're hungry for more info, as are we. Therefore, we wanted to share the uncompressed versions of the pictures that show the word covered by blue tape for everyone's digital manipulation pleasure. So far, Fisker's names – Karma, Surf, Nina – don't seem to fit a pattern, so we're curious to see what the Nina's actual name might be. You got any guesses?

It looks much more refined than the Karma. The name Nina is just a code name, no different than Tesla's Whitestar which became the Model S. I am not a fan of the Karma, but so far the Nina looks very promising. Waiting for more details.

I never got the name Karma. Maybe the little chebbie 4-banger would vibrate your butt and give you the feeling of euphoria ?

Fisker better impress people . . . because Infiniti is also revealing some electrified high-end car. http://bottomline.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/03/29/10904401-infiniti-finally-gets-serious-about-hybrid-cars Would you be more interested in Fisker or a PHEV from a long-established Japanese car-maker which probably costs less? Fisker better knock it out of the park.

It is the ATLANTIC Fisker has recently trademarked the name.

Now maps will need to read Atlantic® Ocean. *Atlantic is a registered trademark of Fisker Automotive Inc. all rights, no preservatives. .Really though, I have no idea how this stuff works, i was just trying to make a funny. : /

You don't seem to be aware of the work of Brenda Priddy. She's very good at what she does. http://www.brendapriddyandcompany.com/

The photos and the actions of the folks in the picture just absolutely REEK of a staged "leak". I mean, youre kidding me right? You really think Fisker is this cavalier with such valuable company property? I think not. I bet she sneaks in a few legit spy photos here and there, but nothing that appears so premeditated like this. You dont think companies try to intentionally "leak" photos to create buzz? Come on now... BTW nice touch trying to "conceal" the identity of the fellas in the photo... so tacky. Love the car, glad Fisker had photos "leaked".

IMHO that's a bit too wingnut-ish, Spiffster, but I'm sure there are plenty of people who would rather pretend that a car company would pay someone to leak a photo rather than leak it themselves for free. It would be fair to ask Priddy & Co. if they would consider that libel - that they can be bought off by a manufacturer.

I contacted Ms. Priddy for her side of the story, and received a very nice response: "I read some of the posts, but it seemed like most of the controversy was over the name. I called it Nina based on "Project NINA" - but as you suggested, I received NO inside information. If I had received information - and the actual name was something else - I would have released that with our spy photos. When you look our other photos - these are pretty typical, even down to the way I covered part of the faces so they're not easily identifiable. (I don't do that when the engineers or whoever threaten or throw things at us!)" I am very impressed that she took the time to respond (on so quickly!) to such a silly question as my asking if she did in fact take the photos without the knowledge of Fisker. Thanks!

They contracted her to take the photos... nothing special really.

"Project Nina" doesn't necessarily translate into a "Nina" car.

Whatever the name Fisker certainly designs some drop dead gorgeous cars. Since he used to work for Ford, I wonder if Henrik has approached them about buying equity in his company?

Yea, it looks like it starts with an M. It definitely says Model S, or possibly Model X

What does it matter? With the delays and quality issues of the Karma, this car won't see production before Fisker goes belly up. I think Telsa is the only EV startup that has a chance at survival.
