Earlier this year, there were reports of at least three Tata Nano runabouts channeling The Trammps and going up in Disco(unt) Infernos. Of the three Nanos that got the charbroil treatment, two of them were apparently due to a faulty switch. The third couldn't be explained, so Tata put together a team of 20 employees supplemented by a forensics expert to figure out what was going on.

Without explaining what happened, the team has reportedly "found no manufacturing defects," and according to PTI News, they say that the third incident is unrelated. Furthermore, all Nanos "absolutely safe." As you were, then. Still, in case current Nano owners want to be even more than absolutely safe, Tata will preemptively check any vehicle already in service.

      That think is a Death trap , on step above walking, why pay $2500 for that when you could buy a decent used car for that.

      In related news, Toyota found that they never had any issues with frame rust, GM found their vehicles in the 80s and 90s really were high quality, Cerberus found their management of Chrysler was the best of any business, and Daimler found no fault with their government bribes.

        didn't BP already tried to put the blame on the manufacturer of the oil pipe?
        • 5 Years Ago
        and BP claims no fault in the Gulf, placing blame elsewhere!

      No A/C means windows always open in hot India. Smoking driver's cig ashes swirl around interior from window breeze, lighting flammable seats/mats. Simple.

      Well they are going by their own and India's standards, which are VERY different than the US's. Also, can't you guys tell that this was clearly just the work of V? ;)

      In another totally non-related press release;

      Tata motors announces free Nomex Suit with embroidered logo offer with every new Nano purchase. Existing customers can stop by the dealer to pick up their own (public transportation to and from the showroom paid for by Tata!)
