Sending an all-electric vehicle up Pikes Peak is not new – a Nissan Leaf and a custom EV from AC Propulsion made the climb in 2011 – but that shouldn't stop anyone from trying to reach the 14,110-foot height in Colorado better, faster and in a cooler car.

$32,998. That's the price that Mitsubishi Motors has announced for the i-MiEV in Canada when the little space egg goes on sale there later this year. (That's $33,891 U.S. at today's exchange rate).

In June of 2009, Mitsubishi Motors kicked off production of its electric city car, the i-MiEV. A month later, the egg-shaped electric commuter hit the Japanese market. In October of this year, Mitsubishi's left-hand drive European-spec i-MiEV was slotted into the production schedule.
