Hennessey has a proud history of tuning high-performance machinery from General Motors and taxing it out onto Grand Parkway, a new stretch of toll road on the outskirts of Houston, Texas. That's what it did with the Cadillac CTS-V, spooling its twin turbochargers until it cracked 220 miles per hour. It did the same with the Corvette Stingray, feeding it nitrous all the way up to 200 mph. Now it's time for the new Chevy SS.

While the performance company isn't quite ready to release full technical details about the new car, it has supplied us with a few of the vitals, as well as a gallery's worth of first-look eye-candy.

There's gilding the lily, and then there is this: An open-air version of Hennessey's 1,200-horsepower Venom GT supercar.
