2020 Land Rover Range Rover

2020 Range Rover Photos
Range Rovers come in all sizes these days, albeit with pretty similar shapes. The 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar exists on the lower end of the size scale, roughly occupying a similar plot to compact SUVs. It's generally priced a bit higher than those, however, which is largely the result of its ritzy interior, genuine off-roading hardware and the fact that it's absolutely drop-dead gorgeous. It exudes cool, and even if the four Range Rovers are a family of lookers, the Velar still manages to be the hot one. Of course, it is comparatively expensive, its in-car technology is a bit wonky, and its lower-end engines aren't as zesty as that of most German competitors. On paper, it can be a bit of a tough sell. In person, though, it's hard not to fall in love.

For 2020, the Velar is no longer available with a diesel engine – it probably won't be missed. A new SVAutobiography trim level debuts and becomes the new range topper, slathering on even nicer leather, a sport-tuned air suspension and a 550-hp V8 among other upgrades. Despite this new trim, however, there are now fewer choices for 2020 and new names for their respective engines (P250, P340 and P380).

The P250 turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four (247 hp, 269 lb-ft) is standard on S and R-Dynamic S trim levels, but the P340 supercharged 3.0-liter V6 (340 hp, 332 lb-ft) is optional. That engine adds cost, but the Velar is already pretty expensive, and if you're interested in getting the engine that matches the rest of the driving experience and luxurious looks, it's the one to go with. Of course, you could also step up to the R-Dynamic HSE's P380 supercharged V6 (380 hp, 332 lb-ft) or the SVAutobiography's supercharged V8 (550 hp, 502 lb-ft).
