Watch our exclusive preview of Top Gear America Episode 2

Yes, that is a 1968 Ford Mustang.

Back in March, the BBC announced it was reviving the Yankee version of its world-famous television show, Top Gear, after less than a year off the air. The new Top Gear America premiered this past week with a new cast on a new channel with a host of new cars. For episode two, William Fichtner, Antron Brown, and Tom Ford mix in a little old with the new, driving a 1955 Cadillac, a 2017 Lamborghini Huracan Spyder, and a replica of Steve McQueen's 1968 Ford Mustang from Bullitt.

Our exclusive clip shows Fichtner prowling the same San Francisco streets seen in the movie. While some of us on staff are more partial to the film's 1968 Dodge Charger R/T, that dark green fastback has inspired a generation of Mustang enthusiasts. Fichtner appears to be among them, as he tries to see if the car he's driving is as fast as the one that had McQueen behind the wheel.

Episode 2 also dives into what it took to be a movie stunt driver in the 1970s. Actor Ryan Eggold is this week's guest. He takes a bright red Honda Civic Hatch around the track at SpeedVegas. Stay tuned to BBC America on Sunday, Aug. 6, at 8 p.m. EDT, 7 p.m. CDT.
