The Mercedes-AMG A45 dresses up as an even hotter hatch for Halloween

Mercedes- AMG is planning to create an even more hardcore version of the A45, as shown in these spy shots. The wider track and larger fenders suggest the possibility of a Black Series model, though Mercedes-AMG boss Tobias Moers has said he's not interested in creating Black Series variants right now. It's possible that this amped-up hatchback could wear a different name.

The lightly-camouflaged prototype looks identical to the AMG A45 on sale today, except for its wide fenders. The more aggressive stance points toward another high-performance model with even more power. Our photographers claim the wide finders also hide the hatchback's wider track, giving the car a hunkered down look. Still, it's missing all of the crazy wings and vents that Black Series models are known for.

Either way, the hotter A45 should get some extra power from the current hatch's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 355 horsepower. The A-Class isn't sold in the United States. Mercedes is expected to redesign the model in the next few years.
