Tesla Motors' most recent referral program has now ended and congratulations have been sent out to all those who've won prizes, including Model X crossovers, Powerwall energy storage units, and invites to the Gigafactory grand opening. For the California-based electric vehicle manufacturer, the program must have been quite a success, because its cranking up a new contest right away.
Unlike the outgoing promotion, this latest program doesn't give referrers Tesla store credits – helping it stay in-bounds of laws in certain states – but it does allow them to be eligible for some pretty terrific prizes. Top prize this go-round? A shiny, new Ludicrous Model S P90D. That's the one that can rip your head from its shoulders if it's not firmly attached; the one that Motor Trend just clocked sprinting to 60 miles per hour in a brain-stem snatching 2.6 seconds. The one that, without a whole lot of options, prices out in the $120,000 neighborhood.
Along with a new car, top referrers from each of three regions (North America, Europe, and Asia) will also get VIP invites for two to the Model 3 unveiling event happening in late March of next year. For those quickest to refer ten confirmed sales, a Powerwall unit awaits, with installation included.
Those owners don't get the most referrals, or who only reach between five and ten sometime before the year-end deadline, aren't forgotten either. Ten or more qualifying contracts gets you an invitation for two to the Model 3 reveal party, while those who clear five will get a pair of tickets to the Gigafactory opening, with transportation from Reno, Nevada being provided.
For those buyers who take part, the reward is instant, with $1,000 being removed from the bottom line of their invoice. The current Model S Referral Program runs from November 1 to December 31, 2015. Anyone who orders a new Model S during this period using the referral link of a Tesla owner will get $1,000 off the purchase price of their Model S.

5+ Qualifying Referrals

Owners can find their referral link by signing into their website account. Referral links are available to everyone with a confirmed order or delivered Model S. When a customer places a new order using an owner's referral link, $1,000 will automatically be taken off the purchase price of the new order. The referral link must be applied at the time of the initial order. Referral credits may not be applied retroactively once a deposit has become non-refundable.
Event Invitations
Unless otherwise noted, owners receiving invitations to Tesla events will be responsible for the cost of their own travel, lodging and other incidentals.
Limits
You must be a current Tesla owner or have a confirmed order to make referrals, and cannot refer yourself. Only one referral credit can be applied to each Model S order; multiple credits on a single order are not permitted. Owners accepting giveaways will be responsible for any related taxes or government/third party fees.
