Land Rover teases updated Evoque ahead of Geneva debut

Land Rover will bring an updated Range Rover Evoque to the Geneva Motor Show, and it will be fitted with a first for the brand: adaptive, full-LED headlights. They'll be an option on the baby crossover when it goes on sale here in October this year, identified by a new LED light signature for the DRLs.

We are also promised more features and interior enhancements, plus "a new engine lineup." That last bit could include a diesel engine for our market, part of the Ingenium series of 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engines developed for the Jaguar XE line. This model will also be the one to usher in the Evoque convertible, and perhaps a larger Evoque XL and a performance model even though the latter was recently publicly ruled out. The press release below has the official words.

(MAHWAH, NJ) - February 15, 2015 - Land Rover revealed today the first glimpse of the 2016 Range Rover Evoque, previewing a striking new headlamp design for the global best-selling Land Rover vehicle ever produced.

The 2016 Range Rover Evoque will be the first Land Rover vehicle to feature available full LED adaptive headlamps when it makes its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March 3, 2015. This powerful lighting technology provides superior illumination in dark conditions, following the curves of the road, and is identifiable by its distinctive headlamp design1.

Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Design Director and Chief Creative Officer said, "Our challenge has been to enhance the Range Rover Evoque without diluting its iconic design. The design refreshments give it an even greater presence on the road yet retain the emotional appeal that has made it so popular with more than 400,000 customers around the world."

The 2016 Range Rover Evoque includes a new engine line-up, additional convenience features, and interior enhancements all wrapped in the trademark exterior design.

Further details of the 2016 Range Rover Evoque will be released on February 22, 2015.
