Time for some Rocky Mountain car sharing. Car2go on June 8 will add Denver to its list of cities where folks can share the classic white and blue Smart Fortwo vehicles. Denver will be the tenth North American city – and 20th worldwide – to have the service, which is owned by Mercedes-Benz and Smart parent Daimler AG.
In Denver, the car-sharing service will cover 42 square miles and use a fleet of 300 vehicles. As it does regularly in new cities, Car2go is temporarily waiving the $35 membership fee. In December, Car2go started operations in Seattle, where it deployed 330 Smart Fortwo vehicles.
And last month, the company reached an agreement with airport-parking vendor The Parking Spot for spaces near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to be reserved for Car2Go drivers.
