A 1979 Buick Electra 225 Limited Edition was stolen out of a grocery store parking lot in suburban Detroit on Friday night. But the thief escaped with more than the classic car.

Inside the trunk was an urn that contained the remains of Bill Conway's stepfather.

"I'm angry and sad," Conway tells WXYZ-TV in Detroit, which first reported the story. "Angry that it's gone, and sad that it's a bad way for something to happen to one of your parents. That's pretty low down."

In town from South Carolina, Conway had hoped to participate in the Woodward Dream Cruise, Detroit's annual classic-automobile showcase that runs along Woodward Avenue. He had kept the urn containing the ashes in the trunk while trying to find his step-brother.

The theft occurred in the Kroger grocery store on Woodward and 13 Mile.
