On Monday, the Financial Times Deutschland (FTD) reported that a quarrel had erupted between Audi and parent company Volkswagen. According to the news agency, Audi's plan to launch the A1 e-tron – an extended-range electric vehicle powered by a single-rotor Wankel engine – goes against the VW's wishes. FTD claimed that VW insiders at the company's headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany boldly called Audi's stance "anarchic."

Apparently, the initial report may have been a bit inaccurate. Automotive News Europe (sub. req.) reached out to Audi by offering the automaker a chance to respond and received this reply from a company spokesman: "There is no problem between VW and Audi." VW was contacted too, but AN has yet to receive a response from the German automaker. Audi intends to launch the A1 e-tron in 2012, so let's hope that this reported squabble turns out to be an erroneous rumor.
