In a pleasingly succinct presentation this morning at the Detroit Auto Show, Tony Swan announced that Ford had swept the 2010 North American Car and Truck of the Year awards. After a brief rundown on how the award voting works, Swan jumped right in. On the truck side, the new Transit Connect small van took the honors from the Chevy Equinox and Subaru Outback. The Transit Connect offers small businesses a more compact and fuel efficient alternative to traditional full size vans for applications like deliveries and service.

On the car side, the Fusion Hybrid grabbed yet another in the string of awards it has received since its debut a year ago. Thanks to the addition of the Fusion, Ford has nearly doubled its hybrid sales in the past year.
