Chrysler to build Dodges and Jeeps at Belvidere

Wednesday Chrysler is expected to announce the renovation to its Belvidere, Ill. Assembly plant which currently builds the Dodge Neon. The plant will be the future home to the Neon replacement (not called Neon) and small SUVs for Jeep and Dodge all on a small-car platform developed with Mitsubishi.

Update: This news brief says it will cost $400 million to update the plant. There is little doubt the announcement will be a positive one if Governor Blagojevich is going to be on hand. What politician wants to be present when they say "nope we're closing shop, you're all out of jobs."
