We know that Maserati will eventually bring a version of its Alfieri Concept to the road, as a next-generation production model slated to arrive in 2016. Shown at the Concours d'Elegance at Villa d'Este, the Alfieri wowed spectators with its throaty singing voice, releasing a few barks and a very racy idle note. Sadly, we know it won't sound exactly like this when it goes on sale.

See, Maserati is adopting a V6-only plan with the Alfieri, so the 4.7-liter V8 shown in the concept and adopted from the GranTurismo, isn't going to make be available in the production model. That's not to say the production car will sound bad – we've every reason to believe it won't – but that this isn't an accurate representation of what the 2016 Alfieri will sound like.

"Sadly, we know it won't sound exactly like this when it goes on sale." Umm... between a V8 and a V6, I think it's more accurate to say it won't sound like this AT ALL.

I'm thinking Henrik Fisker had something to do with this design….

Honestly, this just isn't attractive to me. The proportions are caricature-esque to a fault, and the surfacing looks really basic and unresolved. Odd proportions and comical styling elements belong on a HotWheels toy, not a Maserati.

I hate the interior. Whenever designers try to hard to be "futuristic" it's a guarantee that it will look hideously dated in ten years. It looks like something Kanye West would design. I like the exterior though.

Did they let people put their mouths around the exhaust?

"isn't going to make be available in the production model." Is nobody proof reading these articles before they are published?

Gee ! Where's all the comments 'bout the smoke and stuff outa the pipes on the rev-up ???...sorta like a Challenger "Hellcat" ? \ p

The new 'rati is very nice, but that new Hellcat motor just sounds wicked. Honestly - this sounds a little less refined than the current gen of Maserati v8's - a little rougher, more lopey.

So happy to see Maserati coming back to the forefront of the exotic car market. They were gone for too long. I love Ferrari's and Lambo's but Maserati is still the greatest sounding name for an exotic. Glad to see their designs are starting to get back to living up to that great moniker. Cheers.

Would this be their flagship model??
No its supposed to slot below the GranTurismo, more of a Jag F-type, 911, V8 Vanage competitor
