You'd imagine that as the founder of Pagani, Horacio Pagani would be in the most ridiculous car his company produces. A new Huayra, or perhaps a Zonda F Roadster, right? Nope. Instead, Mr. Pagani's personal car is a Zonda S 7.3, one of the brand's older models, which debuted way back in 2002 with a mere 547 horsepower (for comparison, the Zonda F produces 594 hp, while the Huayra hits the road with 720 ponies).

Mr. Pagani's car is only the sixth Zonda ever produced, according to XCAR, which managed to snag some seat time in the car alongside the man himself. Based on the engine noise of that magnificent 7.3-liter Mercedes-Benz AMG V12 alone, this video is worth a watch. It's also interesting to hear Pagani talk about the car - how it doesn't have carbon ceramic brakes, but can still stop with brutality (there's a much lengthier interview about Pagani here, if you so choose). He also talks about the handling, particularly at high speeds, before hopping in the passenger seat and giving a giddy Alex Goy a chance to sample the V12-powered rocket.

Take a look below for the latest video from the team at XCAR.

Still looks better than the Huyra, but ya, the interior is definitely showing its age. Interesting that he still owns this old model w/the odd parking/turn signal lights on the front. Dream car is the 760 RS. One-off built for some race car driver. Pagani is an artist as well as an engineer.

Hi Brian, actually we filmed this Zonda piece, our full interview with Pagani and our Huayra feature all over the same shoot, all filmed in November 2013. Glad you like it though Drew Stearne, head of XCAR

I haven't heard of a 7.3 sound system before. But it must sound nice.

That is the one of the coolest supercars of all, it's right up there with his other creation, the Countach. In fact I think it ranks right up there with the 300SL Gullwing, the Miura, the F40, and the 959 as one of those all time greats.

Am I the only one who could car less about the Pagani? There's so many other cars I'd rather have.

I guess you are. It's just about "other" cars. It's about the man's passion and dedication that pays off at every inch of the car inside and out.. Surely there are many super fast, super rare and super exotic cars out there made for various different reasons but a pagani is always a little more special, at least to me. Now where is my god-damn lottery ticket?

it is bella. the boring germans made something of notable bewitching pazzione... whilst the brit looks like a transgender in his flamboyant costume - tsk tsk doesnt he have an ego of propriety? I'd still get a 458 Italia and save 1 million euros off the price of this beauty. 1.3 million Washingtons is better off in a vault than in juicy petrol
