VIDEO: Bob Lutz on the Colbert Report

Apple pie, baseball and Bob Lutz. It doesn't get much more American than that. So why did it take this long for Maximum Bob to appear on the Colbert Report, the most Lincolnishly patriotic show on television? Well the GM vice-chairman pulled up onto the set for last night's episode of the Comedy Central mainstay to talk about the new Chevy Volt.
Of course we wouldn't want to spoil the surprise any more than we already have, but if you missed Colbert last night, then just follow the jump to see Lutz actually at a loss for words (!) while he tries to explain why you can't drive a plug-in hybrid while it's actually plugged in.

Lutz couldn't believe what Colbert was saying. Hilarious!
Is it just me and the fact that I haven't listened to Maximum Bob speak that many times, but why does he sound constipated in this video?

Pretty funny vid... at least Bob is a good sport.
When asked if it would burn rubber, the correct response would have been, "It'll blow the doors off your neighbor's Prius."

I have to admit, Colbert definitely plays the pseudo-republican part well, but the schtick gets old after a while.

I believe that in this day and age corporations spend too much money on useless stuff. By since GM already has PR people why are they letting this fool open his mouth.
Look people always say here that GM vehicles get good MPGs, it's just that GMs image is that its not efficient. Do you wonder where that image come from?
Having said that, as damaging as Bob may be he has some value, now Rick Wagoner on the other hand...........

Love how Bob stuck to his guns on global warming. Til the end my friend...
One questions I would have asked.
Why won't you let the press drive it?

Was still funny though. You got to laugh at yourself and Lutz was obviously a bit thrown early on. It was still laughable and I bet this bit introduced the Volt to a group who might not have heard about it.

That is exactly what I thought. A LOT of people use the Daily Show and the Colbert Report as a source for information.

I want to see Colbert take on the 'Apple Guy'.
Microsoft should have used Colbert instead of Seinfeld, but then if you can screw up using Seinfeld, I dont know that Colbert would have a shot either.

He should have asked him how his landing in his Czech fighter jet he owns, with the landing gear UP made him feel.
