VIDEO: Audi releases official footage of the R8
Here is the first of the five videos released by Audi that show not only the enviable driving prowess of the Audi R8, but a cool video on how the car is built and some great information on the engine and powertrain. Just the sound of the engine alone is worth the time it takes to watch all of the videos.
We all want one, or at least to drive one. This is as close as you can get right now...ENJOY!

Really, all we needed was that last video with some actual information and good engine noise. The rest were all the usual too much Eurotrash moozak, not enough engine growl.

Boo viscous center diff! Yeah I'm sure it works fine in practice blah blah but I just don't like the idea of them. Torsen is what Audi is suppose to do!
Anyway I love the look of this car, the sound is of course wonderful just like the RS4, and it makes me very very happy to learn that the R8 will come with a manual. I don't know which transmission I'd want for this particular car but the option of a manual makes me feel better.

Richard, thay said 'typical' only of race cars. In the sense of it being a characteristic normally associated with race cars. They're not saying that it's a characteristic only found in race cars.

You can tell by his hands. The guy who is shifting the gears is old. Probably upper mid-age. Is that the crowd Audi is targeting for this car? Niceeee. Really nice! :)

8250 rpm limiter, but 8000 is clearly marked at the redline.
Where is the 'vorsprung durch Technik' the R8 was a flat plane crank.
S2000 redline is 8000rpm with a 8200 limiter
the old (short stroke) is 8800 with 9000 limiter

I've spent time with the R8 at the Audi HQ in Ingolstadt. I've been in and out of it and stared at it from all angles. Overall I'm not impressed. I think it's overhyped and over glamourized. The performance isn't much better than an RS4 or 911 GT3 (not that I've driven it, just from the numbers). When you see one in the flesh you can't help thinking - you know what, a regular 911 looks better.

i'm don't like audi very much but this car is beautiful, too bad audi over-priced it, it coulda been a good corvette z06 competitor.

Man, nice, but the LEDs around the headlights look like Christmas decoration... tacky. If I ever get one, I'd modify it so it's a solid stripe of light. Ha, not that I'm going to be able to afford one any time soon.
