Mitsubishi provides Mitch-mobiles to UK
The United Kingdom has tapped Mitsubishi to replace the country's aging fleet of sand skipping Mitch-mobiles (so named by us after this vehicle type's supporting role on the international hit show BayWatch) that serve and protect hapless Brits at the beach. The fleet will be comprised of L200 4Work double-cab pickups specially outfitted to aid British lifeguards in their daily duties. The modifications include custom racks carrying surf rescue boards, emergency lighting, an onboard PA system and special badging. Initially the order will be for only a dozen L200s, though that amount will triple over two years and eventually the L200 will replace all 62 beach patrol pickups around the UK.

I like the look this truck derived from the montero much better than the look derived from the durango (mistu Raider, with its enormous nose).

I also think this is a better truck for Mitsu in the US not because of good looks but because it offers a true alternative option to truck buyers rather than just a Mitsubishi badged Dakota.

Mitsu makes the ugliest fucking truck possible. That's all there is to it. This is worse than GM not changing their design for the past 50 years...and that is pretty bad.

I'm a Brit and my road gets jammed with beachgoers who can't find a space in either of the two large carparks at the beach here on Gower all through the summer. Thanks for all the knowledgable comments though, Americans are admired the world over for their intimate knowledge of foreigh affairs.

These are kind of interesting, but am I the only one here who thinks the bed on this pickup looks like it's about to fall off?
And I may be wrong, but I do not believe Mitsu offers this truck in any market with a V6 engine, just gas and turbodiesel 4 cylinder engines. Though if it's based on a Raider/Montero, a V6 should fit, if there was a need for it.
