GM gives details on 14 new crossover vehicles

At an Automotive Press Association luncheon not long ago, Bob Lutz informed the crowd that GM would be expanding its crossover line to 14 by 2010. Yesterday, they gave some details on the new vehicles, and of special interest is the fact that GM is finally delving into the small SUV category (apparently as a crossover). While we're not sure when it will go on sale, GM's littlest SUV will weigh in at less than the Equinox. GMC, Buick and Saturn will see some mid-size crossovers by 2007, which will have better gas mileage than the roughly 15/18 gotten by the TrailBlazer, Rainier and Envoy. Lutz asserts that crossovers (ranging from the HHR to the Equinox) are what's winning business for GM over its foreign competition.
